To add furigana to Japanese text in Mooon, create a Mooon Doc, paste or write the text, then click Add Furigana. Mooon annotates the full document, keeps the readings editable, and lets you export the result when it is ready. If a reading or word boundary is not what you intended, select it, click Edit Furigana, and change it where it appears.

From there, you can correct the reading and its character grouping, edit the source text, add translation or audio, and export a finished copy. The Mooon Doc remains in your workspace as the version you can revise and export again.

From Japanese text to editable furigana

The shortest workflow begins with text you already have:

1. Create a new Mooon Doc.
2. Write directly, or paste in a passage, article, lesson text, or material you are preparing.
3. Click Add Furigana to annotate the document.
4. Read through the result in context.
5. Select any word that needs attention and click Edit Furigana.
6. Correct the rest of the document, then export the finished version.

You do not need to copy the generated result into a second editor before you can work on it. Adding the readings and editing the content happen around the same text.

Correct what automatic furigana gets wrong

Automatic furigana is more than a kanji-to-hiragana lookup. The same characters can be read differently in different words and contexts. Names, places, counters, specialized vocabulary, and less common expressions add more possibilities.

Mooon strengthens difficult readings with a custom Japanese dictionary, but the useful result is not a document that asks you to trust every automatic decision. It is a strong first version whose decisions remain visible and editable.

Select a word or phrase in reading view, then click Edit Furigana in the toolbar. You can:

• type the reading that belongs above the selected text;
• split a group when two parts need separate readings;
• merge adjacent groups when they belong to one expression.

Furigana belongs inside the document

Adding furigana is one step in preparing a usable Japanese document. The source still needs to remain editable, the generated readings need review, and the finished result needs somewhere to be saved and exported.

Export the result without losing the working version

The body text, furigana, and paragraph translations remain editable in the Mooon Doc. When the document is ready, export a copy for use elsewhere. The working version remains in your workspace, ready to reopen, revise, and export again.
