How to Translate a Japanese PDF and Keep the Original Text

2026-07-31

Upload a Japanese PDF to Mooon and open Translate Mode to translate the full document. Choose Compare to keep every translated paragraph with its Japanese source, or choose Replace to read the translation on its own.

Both views use the same translation. Switch between them at any time, edit a paragraph that needs another wording, and export the finished document when it is ready.

Translate once, then choose how to read it

  1. Upload the Japanese PDF.
  2. Open the resulting Mooon Doc.
  3. Click Translate Mode.
  4. Choose Compare or Replace.
  5. Export the translated result in the format you need.

Mooon translates the document paragraph by paragraph. In Compare, each translation stays with the paragraph it explains; add furigana when you also want the Japanese pronunciation in view.

In Replace, the translation takes the source text’s place in the reading view. Switch back to Compare whenever you need to check the Japanese. The file does not need to be translated again.

Scanned, vertical, and multi-column PDFs follow the same workflow. Mooon recognizes and reorganizes them automatically as part of the upload.

Fix only what needs changing

If one paragraph needs different wording, edit its translation directly or translate that block again. The rest of the document stays as it is.

Export the result when you need a copy elsewhere. The Mooon Doc remains in your workspace with its translation and edits, ready to reopen or revise.
